The School of Petroleum Engineering, UNSW, introduced the Bachelor of Petroleum Engineering degree in 1986 which was the first undergraduate degree of its kind in Australia.  Since 2000 the School offers combined degrees with Science, Commerce and now also with Law. 

Recognised internationally, today the School is the leading source of Petroleum Engineering graduates in Australia.  In addition to the areas of oil and gas exploration, production, processing and transport, education within the School covers economic evaluation, oil and gas law, finance and accounting.

Since 2002, The School of Petroleum Engineering (SCOPE) presents a range of industry short courses that cover the full spectrum of upstream oil and gas exploration and production activities.

SCOPE has experience in conducting individual short training courses for the general public and in-house courses for oil and gas companies, government departments and financial institutions including integrated short course programmes of several months' duration, and on-the-job training.
