In 2002, Craig undertook a ‘sea change’, interpreting economic and financial trends for the Australian Financial Review. Prior to this he held Chief Economist posts at both Colonial and Commonwealth Securities.  Craig has worked in banking, finance and journalism for 27 years.  He holds both Bachelor and Master degrees in Commerce (Economics).  Both degrees were undertaken at University of NSW    

Dan Denning

  Dan Denning founded and edited a financial newsletter on small-capitalization stocks in 1998 and edited Strategic Investment, from 2000 to 2006. His macro-economic and stock-market forecasts in were read by over 45,000 subscribers in 70 countries. His analysis for The Daily Reckoning is read by more than 500,000 people regularly. Dan is also a regular columnist for Money Week, a London financial weekly.
In 2002 Dan spent a year observing U.S. markets from Paris before relocating to the London offices of Fleet Street Publications. In 2004 Dan spent six months travelling the globe in search of investment opportunities. This trek resulted in the New York Times bestseller, The Bull Hunter (John Wiley & Sons).
Dan's latest project has him currently residing in Australia where he pens the The Australian Small Cap Investigator and The Daily Reckoning Australia. He is also a contributing editor to the Australian resource investing publication, Diggers & Drillers.
Dan received his undergraduate degree in literature from the American University in Washington, D.C. in 1995. He earned a master's degree in the Liberal Arts from St. John's College in 1997.

  David is the Global Practice Leader for Impact Assessment and Planning at ERM, the world’s largest all environment consultancy. In this role he is involved with 700 staff in 100 offices in 40 countries that are assisting clients in gaining environmental approvals for major projects.
David has over 20 years experience in planning and environmental projects in Australia, Asia Pacific and other regions. He has particular experience with the mining industry both at the project and corporate levels. He has been responsible for major EISs for coal mines, and for the social and economic assessment of coal, gold, copper, uranium and mineral sands projects. At the corporate level David has lead the verification of the health, safety, environment and community data for BHP Billiton and Xstrata globally, and he has participated in a global compliance assurance program for Rio Tinto.

  Duncan Calder is the President of the Australia China Business Council (WA).  The ACBC in WA naturally has a particular focus on resources and infrastructure and has this year held a high profile seminar series titled "Australia and China - Co-operation in infrastructure for Resources Development" with key note speakers from the National Development and Reform Commission, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Australia and Minister Alannah MacTiernan as well as many Australian resources and professional services companies.  
Duncan is a partner in KPMG's Corporate Finance Practice and is the Chairman of KPMG's Energy & Natural Resources team in Western Australia.  He sits on the Industry Policy Committee at the Chamber of Minerals & Energy in Western Australia.  Duncan was the founding Chairman of KPMG Australia's China Business practice five years ago.  He has worked for many Chinese companies including Baosteel, Sinosteel, CITIC Pacific, MCC, CNOOC, Ansteel, Yilgarn Infrastructure, Nanjing Iron and Steel, Shougang and Harbin Power as well as assisting Australian resources companies in securing investment in projects from China.

Eddy came to Australia in 2003 to undertake the degree of Master of Commerce at The Australian National University. Studying for a PhD degree at UNSW, in 2007 Eddy was invited to join THTF Australia as the local Deputy General Manager.   Jacob Ramsay provides analysis on political and security developments in South-East Asia. Since joining Control Risks, Jacob has prepared a series of reports on the mining sector in Indonesia and Thailand and in the Pacific, including the Solomon Islands, Tonga and Fiji. He has also prepared political assessments on Vietnam and Burma.
Prior to joining Control Risks, Jacob worked with the Australian government as a senior analyst providing assessments for the prime minister and cabinet on regional issues in South-East Asia providing political, economic, security and strategic analysis with a focus on their impact on national political and commercial interests. Jacob also spent two years as a postdoctoral research fellow at the Asia Research Institute of the National University of Singapore, completing research on religion and politics in Vietnam and Islam in Cambodia. Jacob holds a PhD in South East Asian Studies and a Bachelor’s degree in Asian Studies. He speaks Vietnamese, French and German.

  Julian has extensive experience in decision-making and business continuity management processes both from a development perspective and practical application.   His background includes extensive experience in all levels of Government, in the areas of strategic assessment, crisis and contingency planning and ‘in extremis’ response (which has included activities in Mozambique, Rwanda, Somalia, Bougainville and Cambodia). Within these appointments he was also involved in the testing and reviewing of the National Counter-Terrorist Plan. Julian has worked with the United Nations in the Middle East and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Europe principally in the areas of peacekeeping and humanitarian assistance. He has lectured on decision making and crisis management processes, and led the team responsible for introducing a revised decision making process in the Australian Army.    

Karl Mallon

  Dr Karl Mallon has been working in climate change mitigation and adaptation issues since pre-Kyoto.  His work and that of his team at Climate Risk Pty Ltd is based around establishing new ways of thinking as a bridge between climate science and practical decision making.  Karl has been a member of the CSIRO’s Energy Futures Forum and a director of the Australian Wind Energy Association.  Karl’s has been involved in climate related work from the World Bank through to local councils.  His recent publications include ‘Renewable Energy Policy and Politics: A Handbook for Decision Making’ published by Earthscan and ‘A High Bandwidth Low carbon Future’ published by the Telstra Corporation.  Karl is currently working with the insurance sector on climate change risk management and adaptive products.

  Oliver is a senior manager with KPMG’s Sustainability Advisory Services practice in Sydney and specialises in providing advisory and assurance services on corporate responsibility and sustainability reports, as well as sustainability and climate change.
Oliver has experience conducting sustainability projects for both the public and private sectors. He has managed the review of large Australian organisations’ sustainability reports including ANZ, IAG, Boral, Investa Property Group, Anglo Coal Australia and Qantas. He has also been involved in assisting organisations on energy and greenhouse gas data collection and reporting.
He has also managed advisory projects focused on Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) risk management.
Oliver has also managed outsourced internal audits for organisations on environmental and occupational health and safety issues as well as broader sustainability and climate change issues.

  Paul Glasson is the General Manager of Satori Investments, the Strategic Alliance Partner in China of KPMG Australia, the China Representative for HRL Ltd, and the Chief Representative in China for the ACBC-WA division.
Mr. Glasson has been in China for more than ten years in both Beijing and Shanghai. He is a genuine fluent mandarin speaker, and conducts meetings with clients in Chinese without translation support.
In his role for KPMG Australia Mr. Glasson has primarily focused on developing the China Business Practice of KPMG Australia, a department within KPMG Australia that focus’ on inbound investment into Australia from China. Mr. Glasson has worked with the KPMG team to develop an impressive record in this market, KPMG Australia having been involved in more than half of the major transactions involving Chinese investment into Australia, with clients like CITIC Pacific, MCC, Sinosteel, Shougang, Nanjing Iron and Steel, Huaneng.   Peter Crowley is an economist trained at the University of Chicago and the Australian National University. Peter has more than 25 years of experience consulting to business and government, both in Australia and overseas, as well to international organizations. Peter has specialized in regulatory economics and the economics of the natural resources sector (minerals, energy, agriculture and fisheries).  He also has extensive capability in macroeconomics, international trade and finance and the economics of commodity markets.
Prior to joining URS, Peter Crowley was a Principal Consultant with ACIL Tasman, a leading Australian economic and policy consulting firm. His previous positions include International Coordinator of the Pacific Economic Co-operation Council’s Minerals and Energy Forum, and the Economist for the Australian Mining Industry Council.

  Richard Court was Premier and Treasurer of Western Australia from 1993 - 2001. He retired from Parliament after nineteen years as the Member for Nedlands. His Government led the LNG marketing push into new markets, the successful deregulation of the Western Australian gas markets and the successful privatisations of the SGIO, BankWest, AlintaGas, Westrail Freight and the DBNG pipeline. Currently he is Chairman of Resource Investment Strategy Consultants [RISC] and GRD Limited as well as a director on WesTrac Holdings Pty Ltd and Iron Ore Holdings Ltd. Richard Court also is a senior advisor at KPMG and a consultant to Australian Capital Equity. He was appointed Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia in June 2003 for service to the Western Australian Parliament and to the community.
