The Awards Process and Criteria
There are five awards to be presented at the Gala Dinner to be held at Sea World on Monday 4th May, 2009. The awards are:
Broker of the Year
This award recognises the outstanding contribution to the Life Science Industry by a broker. Nominees must have illustrated exceptional understanding of the industry as demonstrated through the provision of sound recommendations for investment in Life Science companies.
CEO of the Year
This Award recognises outstanding management practices within the Life Science industry. Nominees must have illustrated excellence and innovation in their leadership practices. Qualifiers of this award are required to have demonstrated how their leadership has created a committed, motivated and effective workforce and successful company.
Transaction of the Year
The term ‘transaction’ can be applied to partnerships, commercialization, agreements, mergers and acquisitions that took place in 2008 (calendar year). The transaction must demonstrate innovation and show how they have / will contribute to the progression of the product / company. Qualifiers of this award will have contributed significantly to life Sciences through the development of, and investment in Life Science which has promised potential.
Life Sciences Debut of the Year
This award recognises the successful debut of a new Life Science company onto the ASX within 2008 (calendar year). Debutant companies must have demonstrated a strategic approach to listing and should have achieved either a significant company awareness in the market, or has outstanding initial results within the first 6-12 months.
Legends Award
This award recognises an individual that has illustrated a longstanding contribution to the Life Science Industry. The individual will have demonstrated longevity in the industry, coupled with the consistent development and discovery of Life Science products or services that have contributed to the development of the life sciences industry.
Life Science Industry includes:- Biotechnology, Medical Device, Industrial, Biofuels, Agriculture and Environment.
The awards process works as follows:
- Any company/individual can be nominated for an award.
A company/individual can self-nominate.

- All nominations must be in by 1st April 2009.
The selection process is as follows:
- Following the closure of nominations, the organising committee will short list nominations for each category.
- The short list will be put on the website
- anyone may vote for a nomination on the short list. A mechanism is in place to ensure one vote per person.
