Kerry Stevenson Managing Director
Kerry's background includes working in sales and marketing and head hunting in the USA and Australia. In London she worked in advertising and saw the opportunity to expand agency offerings by setting up The 195 Company (since bought by JWT) to give clients the added benefit of event management within the advertising agency. In 1994 she developed News World, an international conference and exhibition for the international broadcast new industry. Returning to Sydney in 2004 Kerry started up Resourceful Events to run the mining conference now known as Excellence in Mining and Exploration. As Managing Director of Resourceful Events Kerry aims to bring a new conference model to the Australian business and investment community.
Steve Horsley General Manager
Steve has spent his professional working life in the events industry. Steve has produced over 1,500 events from exhibitions to live concerts and events, theatre, and sporting events. Some of his career highlights include producing private events for President Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama and Queen Elizabeth, work with the Super 14 rugby franchise, the Sydney Olympic and Paralympic Games and the America’s Cup.
Over the last 7 years, Steve has worked exclusively in B2B and B2C business events with the two of the world’s leading exhibition companies – Reed Exhibitions and dmg world media.
Julie Shiels Sales Executive
Julie comes to Resourceful Events with 25 years experience in the Television Commercial Production industry and has focused on organization and communication through running her own business. With a change of career focus 3 years ago to the Events industry, Julie worked as Sales Manager for dmg world media on National Home Shows. With a love of creating solid relationships with clients Julie is now focusing on new industries to build events in the Biotechnology, Mining and Oil & Gas sectors with Resouceful Events.
Polly Hitman Event & Marketing Manager
Polly Hitman has had more than 5 years experience in events management. Graduating in media and event management Polly began her career with Murdoch Magazines working in PR for the consumer division. She spent 2 years in the UK running seminars for a property investment company. Following her time in the UK Polly returned to Sydney where she worked for Reed Business Information managing awards programs and events for 12 of Reed’s publications. Polly’s passion for event management and logistics shows through in her commitment to detail in all her events. She brings her experience with her to Resourceful Events where she is in charge of logistics across all company events.
Gill Elphinston Events Assistant
Gill has recently joined Resourceful Events as Events Assistant. Gill graduated in 2006 with a Bachelor of Communication in Public Relations from the University of Canberra. In 2007 Gill spent time traveling around Europe and gained 6 months experience at an events company in London. Gill’s passion for organization and eye for detail has drawn her to the field of events management.
Sophie Sipsma Project Manager
Sophie has enjoyed over 3 years working in the events industry in the UK. After a year coordinating events at a conference and exhibition venue, she made the transition to producing B2B conference programs. Managing a portfolio of global events in niche technologies, she has had experience producing events for European, American and Asian markets. Sophie is responsible for identifying new business opportunities for Resourceful Events and developing these concepts into industry-leading events.
Karen Redfern Events Coordinator
Karen recently joined Resourceful Events as an events coordinator. Karen graduated in 2007 with a degree in tourism and a graduate diploma in events management. During her graduate studies Karen participated in the organisation of numerous events on the Sunshine Coast before returning to Sydney. Karen's keen focus on outcomes and strong organisational skills are of particular value in events management.
Marty Bear Sponsorship Sales Manager
Marty has over 24 years experience in the Banking and Finance Industry. He started his Banking Career with the ANZ Bank progressing to Manager Investment and Lending Services before taking up a role at Members Equity Bank as State Manager Super Business Loans - Business Development thus starting up this arm of the business in NSW for Members Equity Bank. He took over as State Manager Business Development Maxis Home Loans for both NSW and the ACT, this being Members Equity Bank broker area. Then commenced as Manager Business Development Bluestone Mortgages before starting as National Sales and Marketing Manager for Fox Symes Home Loans until May 2008. Marty brings with him a wealth of experience to his role as Sponsorship Sales Manager at Resourceful Events.
